Eagle Strike! – Col Jan Breytenbach

This is the story of an audacious airborne assault on 4 May 1978 on a SWAPO fortified base containing its military headquarters, logistical support, reserves and training facilities.

This is an opportunity to get a firsthand insight into the events of that day, brilliantly authored by Colonel Jan Breytenbach, who was also the commanding officer of the paratroopers who parachuted into the heavily defended SWAPO base.  Written by the man who led the assault, Col. Jan Breytenbach. The highest decorated soldier in the South African Defence Force and founder of elite units such as the Special Forces (Recces), 32 (Buffalo) Battalion and the Parachute Battalion, he is a military legend.
